ORGANIC AND NATURAL FOOD
Our organic journey began in 1997 when Wong had a chance encounter with an organic farmer. We started on organic vegetables, and discovered the benefits of organic food for our health and our environment. We also realized that most mainstream food produce and product are low in nutrition and contain toxic chemicals.
In 1998, we invested in an organic farm in Rembau, Negri Sembilan which grew local lowland vegetables. We market and sell the organic produce under the brand EcoGreen. Ecogreen believes Going organic is the how people can eat healthy yet preserve mother nature.
EcoGreen Organic Shop located in Taman Tun Dr Ismail was opened in 2001. We aim to create awareness among the nearby residents, and providing authentic organic produce to the community.
EcoGreen Organic Cafe @ Bangunan Bakti Siti Hasmah, located at the fringe of TTDI next to Bukit Kiara and KL Golf & Country Club is surrounded by greenery. In a resort like setting, besides the relax and cosy ambience, EcoGreen offers tasty food which is good for you and good for mother earth. We cater for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians, and only organic and natural ingredients are only. Our culinary policy strictly exclude the use of monosodium glutamate (MSG), microwaving, transfat, artificial preservatives, colorings, flavorings and enhancers.
EcoGreen Life Cafe, our second restaurant, was opened in 2006 adjacent to our Organic Shop in TTDI, serving organic and natural food to the local community.
Wong had worked along with and supported NGO’s and government agencies in the furtherance of the organic movement. He was in the committee that drafted of the Malaysia Organic Standard (MS1529). Subsequent to MS 1529, DOA established SOM (Sijil Organik Malaysia), the government led organic certification.Wong is a member of CETDEM and OAM (Organic Alliance Malaysia).
